ORIGINAL DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS
I am constantly creating original equestrian drawings in the form of new images and ideas to explore my love of horses, and to find ways of expressing this love. A favourite medium is charcoal and also wash drawings, but I am developing oil paint as new medium for me.
I have worked recently with figurative artists, Sarah Simblet, Alan Mcgowan, Cynthia Bowles and Martin Campos to absorb their knowledge of the human form. I love to work with the figure and have a separate section for figure drawing and paintings on this website, but I am keen to paint horses.
Horses are a passion for me and it is incredibly satisfying to find that I am able to depict them in paint as well as in the drawing media. The originals on this page are works created for exhibitions or as a result of special projects.
The Laikipia series (below) is a record of a riding safari at Lolldaiga Lodge, Kenya during a week in late 2014. The newer pieces were made in 2016 as part of an exhibition “The Horse in the Heart” at Whitespace Gallery, Edinburgh. For this exhibition I made a series of very large and medium scale equestrian drawings, using different media to explore new ideas and to develop my work beyond either a conventional representation or a rapid sketch. “Silver Beauty” and “Abstract Horse” were created this year as part on an ongoing project.
Each item is supplied as drawing only, unless otherwise mentioned. If you wish the work to be mounted and framed, please let me know. UK-wide delivery of framed work is available at reasonable cost.
