IMPROVISE WITH COLOUR
Creating the abstract landscape
14th June 10 am – 2 pm
£30.00
A short workshop which will introduce you to working with paint in a relaxed and improvised way. Just bring a favourite photo or sketch of a landscape. We will build on the main shapes by working freely in colour and overpainting/scraping back in layers until we sometimes discover a much deeper meaning in our work. Often the result is far from the original conscious intention. If you are interested in an experimental painting day, seeing where your imagination takes you, then come along at 10.
No experience needed and all materials provided. We will be working in water based acrylic paint.
PRE BOOKING ESSENTIAL.
“THE ART OF DRAWING HORSES”
The Legs and Feet of the Horse
18th October 10 am – 4 pm £50.00
Did you ever want to know how to draw the legs and hooves of horses with confidence and understanding? I know I did. I have made a close study and I will be sharing this knowledge with you. We will explore the structure by drawing in different ways and with different media. I will show you some basic principles of proportion that will help you construct or amend your drawing. You can learn to draw from favourite images in a way that really goes under the surface towards understanding, and leads you make strong free work from imagination.
PRE-BOOKING ESSENTIAL

Glasgow School of Art graduate Diana Hand is an experienced artist, with a special gift for drawing horses with freedom and spontaneity.
In the workshop she will demonstrate an approach to drawing which combines free expression and experimentation with the principles of equine structure. You will have the rest of the day to work from your own ideas and images, or to gain inspiration from Diana’s library of books and photographs along with her personal advice and guidance as desired.
This class is suitable for all artists from complete beginners to those with more experience. Paper and basic drawing materials are supplied, but you are free to bring your own favourite medium. Tea and coffee and light refreshments are provided free, but please bring a packed lunch. Numbers are limited to 10 per class, and pre-booking is essential.
